Wii Rumors- Rock Band 2 release later this week

All speculation and I’ve not seen any real official news, but its said that the standalone game will be ($49.99), standalone drums ($89.99), standalone guitar ($69.99), and special edition bundle ($189.99) will all ship on December 18.

Shortly after release, downloadable songs will be made available on a weekly basis, starting with the 20 free Rock Band 2 songs that are already available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. On that same day, 30 tracks from the existing catalogue of DLC will also be ready. Eventually, the entire back catalogue of songs that have been released for 360 and PS3 will be available on Wii.

The word is that the game will ship before Christmas, rather than January. There’s enough hype surrounding each Rock Band launch on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 that it’s easy to forget that their are versions for the Wii and PlayStation 2 versions as well. But Wii and PS2 owners haven’t been forgotten, and it looks like they might be getting a surprise this month
